“The scope of works and methodology proposed and implement by Geoff (Hatton) and Grant (Thomas) and the team Sustainable Turf met all our requirements. I am pleased to have been involved through this challenging time for the club because the light at the end of the tunnel means our club can provide a quality surface for quality racing for all of our stakeholders. I must thank Sustainable Turf for their professionalism and execution.”

Callaghan Park, Rockhampton
“The worst affected racecourse was Callaghan Park at Rockhampton which was in the path of the swollen Fitzroy River and was partially or completely flooded from mid December to late January. Just a year ago the finishing touches were being put on Rockhampton Jockey Club’s new $6.5 million grass track but before its anniversary it became one giant lake being completely under water for 12 days.
The silt layer that remained once the floodwater subsided, up to 5 inches thick in places, was broken up to enable the turf to survive until further cleaning could be could be done. Then two KORO Field Top maker machines were rushed in by Geoff Hatton’s company, Sustainable Turf Renovations, to start the process of removing the silt, thatch layer and grass leaf, leaving only the original growing medium and turf rhizome and stolons.”
5 hectares were cleaned in 30 hours over days.
